On the left is a work in progress collage. On the right my gray table with the material I was working in. At some point of the creation of the collage, I took a look of the whole table and I saw this composition would be great for a photo. So, I did not arranged the elements on the right for the photo.
In my opinion, the final result has synergy between the ordered, thought and consciously designed left part and the opposite right part. As concept, it is interesant (at least for me) enough because it shows the balance between artwork and creation process as a visually balanced image.
By other hand, it expands the expressive content of the collage. In my collages I try to express what I'm feeling in that moment. Well, usually are strong feelings what move me to create. I'm not going to detail what is the exact meaning for me; it is very personal and I'm shy to do it. What I can say is that it is about human relationships. Anyway, I don't use to explain my art of this kind since I think is the viewer who should give it an emotional meaning... and if a viewer feels nothing looking at it, my explanation would not help. Well, the right part, for me, express chaotic thinking, you know, lots of ideas flying in your head...
The last thing is the title. When I do (brainy) conceptual artworks (for example, my photo "Bestseller", where I created a 'book' in the shape of toilet paper), the title is as important as the photo/painting/sculpture (sometimes even more). But when I trip into non conceptual and expressive artworks, title is not important at all. This is the case of this one, it could be title "Untitled" or "Composition No. 123", but I chosen "Libro Primero" because these were the words printed in the base old book paper I used for the collage (as you know, I use to work with old books paper as material, I love it).
